The School Streets Initiative is described as offering a proactive solution for school
communities to tackle air pollution, poor health and road danger reduction with targeted
schemes encouraging a healthier lifestyle and active travel to school for families, and lead to
a better environment for everyone.
West Road in Thorne as part of the ‘Schools Street’ project has seen Astar install temporary restriction on traffic at school drop-off and pick-up times.
Throughout the trial, the safety implications for road users, including pedestrians and pedal
cyclists will be considered, alongside any impact on residents.
